*Subject* Vampire Lore - Page 2 Empty There's no such legend about 'lobishomens' in brazilian folklore,

Post  marianalvim Thu Jun 10, 2010 9:20 pm

    Lobishomen
Area from/nationality: Brazilian. Vampire, that preys mainly on women. It does not actually kill its victims preferring instead to draw small amounts of blood. After its attack, the woman begins to display nymphomaniac tendencies

THERES NO SUCH LEGEND ABOUT 'LOBISHOMENS' here in Brazil.
However, Lobisomens (without the f*ucking H) do. They are the Brazilians werewolves (Lobi = Lobo = Wolf) + (somem = Homem = Man). And they don't prey exclusively on pretty girls. They prey on whatever is f*ucking moving.
The 'Boto-cor-de-rosa' (pink boto) a kind of river dolphin is who during the full moon nights gets out of the water in the shape of a beautiful man and seduces pretty women to father his children. It is not a vampire indeed. Also there's not a legend about a mother dying giving birth of a demon's child.

The worst is that i've never heard about an island as the Esme Island in Rio de Janeiro, the closest of it is in Angra dos Reis. And yet, there's no parrots, dolphins or something.

Well, and an Indian as a house keeper? It is quite unusual, most part of the indians in brazil lives in Amazonia or in the north states. Stephenie Meyer should research before writing those f'uking books.

Just to justify HOW i know it, I am from Brazil, and I'm sure that we learn very well about our legends at school.

Maybe another one who BELIEVES that Twilight characters are real. Like *cough*Rhi*cough* And someone who REFUSES to admit that Stephenie was able to create her own supernatural world and vampire characteristics. Who said that these places have to be REAL? Duh?!

To be fair though, if Stephenie WAS going to use stuff about cultural myths in her story, she probably should have done her research. I'm taking what this poster said on face value, but if the Brazilian vampire myth really is wrong, then that's a black mark against Meyer. I was actually praising her the other day for having some so much research for the saga.

Such stories don't have to necessarily contain real places and real stories, but however, am pretty sure Stephenie had done her researches about these subjects before she finished writing her novels...why do some idiots believe that EVERYTHING in every book has to be true? pshh!!

No I understand that, but in loads of interviews she's claimed that all her myths and stories are real, that she;s been culturally sensitive etc...so I just hope that what that previous poster said was wrong, or maybe an oversight on Stephenie's part.

i'm sure they check things like that before publishing it. it looks bad on everyone if things are published turn out to be false when it was claimed they were accurate.

Yeah I mean this troll probably got her facts wrong, I was playing devil's advocate and giving the troll the benefit of the doubt. You'd think someone would check Meyer's 'facts' out.

I think, therefore, I am. LOL. Laughing Laughing This poster just wanted us to doubt Stephenie. I know Steph did her research and modifed sme of it. Even the sparkling avampire thing is un-traditional-y vampire.

Very untraditional, but that's given. Like it was very clear she took certain liberties with vampire mythology - everyone does their own thing with that. True Blood's vampires are different to twilight's are different to Vampire Diaries' are different to SPN's.
