Fan's report from New Moon's set in Italy

Hey guys! Ellie here, with lots more to tell you about my day on the set of New Moon. As our day on set came to a close, Chris Weitz, the director, came out to introduce himself to us and thank us all for doing such a great job. And we even got to wave hello to Kristen herself! After one of the takes, Jen and I spotted her and started waving at her. She waved back and blew kisses, a huge smile on her face. It was pretty cool--we were huge fans of her work, far before Twilight was even written.

We also heard some exciting rumors about a possible Stephanie Meyers cameo in the movie. Sure, she talked about visiting the set on her blog, but it sounds like she also clocked some time on-screen. Other extras told us she was actually in some of the shots the day before, watching the scene from a plaza window and wearing all red to blend in with the rest of the crowd.

Sadly, we didn’t get up-close-and-personal with Rob. One of the main extra coordinators tried twice to get Robert to come out and say ‘hi.’ Both times, Rob said no, he didn’t want to and he couldn’t deal with it. The fans were so upset that the extras coordinator told them all too boo him as he was driven by—and they did! Really, nobody has any right to criticize Robert for his decision to not come meet the fans. Obviously, we’re disappointed because we’d love to see him and hear a few words from him. (It would be a major morale boost after a long day in the hot, Italian sun.)

But we can’t blame him. The fans were really out of control and some of them broke down in tears after seeing him walk around shirtless! In fact, sometimes the hysteria caused a lot of trouble for the filmmakers during the day. There were times where they’d line up the lighting and actors, start rolling, call action…and no sooner had Kristen begun to run towards Robert, they’d shout “Stop!” Then they’d begin yelling at us through the speaker in Italian to look at the door, because so many people had been staring at Rob. We had all been told to keep our hoods up and our cloaks closed, and to look only at the church—not what was happening between Rob and Kristen.

Once shooting was over, the stand-ins also came out and took a group photo with us. At one point, Kristen’s stand-in leaned down toward Robert’s stand-in. He stood up and grabbed her arm, jokingly biting at her wrist in a blood-crazy manner. (Kind of like what Robert did at the end of Twilight when he sucked the venom out of Kristen’s arm and couldn’t stop.) The fans went wild, laughing and cheering.

After the pictures, one of the yellow Porsches from the book was driven out into the square, which sent the crowd into hysterics as everyone flocked around it. It was a great ending to an exhausting— and amazing—day. I can’t wait to go see the film in November. I’ll be able to say I was there…as I try to pick myself out of the sea of red!

WHY would the boo rob!?!?!!! WTH! i would be SCARED TO DEATH if i were him. if i saw someone break down in tears at the sight of me i would run the other effing way. wthhhh!!! i want to punch some of the twilight fans that give us a bad freaking name in the damn face.

I agree! Seems like everyone is booing at him just cause he doesn't do what they want him to do. Paps and now fans. Nice. Way to go! That is so wrong

he really needs us as body guards! we wouldnt stand for that! i can just see use chuck norris roundhouse kicking the limo door down and then chasing after those assholes!

Yeah, Rob will be free of fans during the day but during the night he will be oh so busy lol

OME thats insane? Why boo the poor dude? If that was me I'd be pretty freaked out too. Like little over a year ago, he was a complete unknown ordinary person and suddenly everyone wants a piece of him all the time. He can't even do his job properly because they're crowding him. So what if he had a hard time dealing with it and wanted some space? God I hate rapid fangirls....

i do too. =/. they make everyone think that we are ALL like that. and we're totally not. we joke but i would NEVER boo someone for being too overwhelmed to meet the fans. whether it was rob or kristen or jackson or kellan or ANY of them. people are so mean.

Of course not, I wouldn't either! And we joke about fainting or drooling, but I would try SOOOO damned hard to keep my cool if I ever saw any of them. I will be trying hard when I go to ComicCon. Because they don't want or appreciate that. They want to be taken seriously as actors but also have people see them as just another person.

I also wouldn't boo at Rob of course I also wouldn't boo at anyone else no matter if I like or don't like them. But they are human beings and they don't deserve it! they are not monkeys in the cage!

I don't generally boo. I think I have on occasion as a joke but never seriously.

Basically, I've been writing this everywhere and every time the discussion is about these things. If I would meet any of them I also would try to stay as calm as I can be reminding they are normal human beings just like me. Because I wouldn't want them to see as a fan but as a person

i would try to act calm, but i would definately be freaking a little. they would probably be able to tell, but at least i wouldnt burst into tears at the sight of them!

exactly guys. I mean I'm not saying I would succeed, but if I did act weirdly it would not be through lack of trying.

im not gonna lie though. if we ever DID happen to get on oprah and she sprung rob on us without any warning i can assure you that i WOULD freak out!!!!!!!!!!! i might even cry a little. but that would totally be all on oprah!!!

actually if I wasn't prepared for it, I probably would freak out too.

oh i KNOW i would! you can just do that to a girl! i would die right there!!!! they would have to have EMTs waiting outside! lmao!

So could I, in all seriousness. We wouldn't survive that. Especially if RaiRai and TenTen were with us, and Oprah brought out both Rob and Taylor. It's be mass pandemonium.

hahahaha we think rairai would act the worst, but watch it be one of the calm ones. rofl. well... none of us all calm. but the less exhuberant ones.

hehe they do say watch out for the quiet ones.

hahahaha i can just picture it now. itll be lazzy, me, you, and then rairai sitting there in a row and then all of a sudden POW rob comes out. i can just PICTURE rairai sitting there being all oh wow! rob! and then me and you and lazzy freaking out and grabbing eachother. lol.

hehehehe quite possibly, cousin!! It would have to be us, the ones who think we could control ourselves if need be. We'd be the first to founder.
