woah the pic! are you seriously studying there! omg, it's so beautiful I can imagine myself with a book, few close friends, by some tree studying together

yeah. I've been here for 3 years. its seriously the most beautiful place ever...well the Founder's building is, the rest of the campus is so-so.
And yes thats how we revise sometimes lol! We go and sit on the quad in group and lie down on the grass and revise together. Its an amazing way to revise!!
I'm so gonna miss this uni and the area. I'm moving to a city uni for my PhD so no lovely greenery

That place is wonderful Lish-lish! I wish there was something like that in here.

haha i dont know how it works at other schools, but at my high school we only had one prom and it was for both juniors and seniors and the juniors paid for it with their class funds.

hehe thanks Lucia. Its one of the best looking unis in the country, only Oxford and Cambridge are better.
Prom for us was only for our year. No-one else could come. With the boat party, it was for 6th form, which comprises of students between 16 and 18, but priority was for those who were leaving, so the 17-18 year olds. Then whatever wasn't sold went to the lower year.
Summer ball isn't particularly for the graduating class, its for all three years pus postgrad people. Basically its to celebrate the end of the academic year. But it tend to be mostly 3rd years and the 1st years who wanna experience it for the first time. Most people can't afford to go every year. I couldn't afford it in my first year either. But this year I saved up.

Tell me again what you're majoring in Lish-lish.

Biochemistry is my major, and Psychology is my minor Lucia
And I'm doing my PhD in Neuroscience. Hopefully my project will be to do with Alzheimer's disease.

I wanted to do medicine when I was about 16, but only because I wanted to be a psychiatrist. But then I changed my mind and wanted to do forensic science. Then I altered it to forensic psychiatry. Which is why I chose biochem and psych. But then one year into the course and I knew that I HAD to go into neuroscience research. Then I had a crisis in the second year and almost went into pharmaceuticals. Then I came back on track.

Yeah, I know science rocks. I wanted to do Medicine because I like knowing what people are suffering from. My parents are medical doctors so I was brought up in that 'world', if you can call it that way. But now, I realised I should follow my heart and do what I think makes me happy: acting. I have this idea in my mind, the being an actress thing, since I'm in the 7th grade (12 years old +/-), but I never had the courage to tell my parents.

you have to do what makes YOU happy, not your folks. My parents would have preferred I went into medicine than a measly research post. But I knew they'd stand by me no matter what.
If you wanna act, then thats what you should do. Your parents will just have to put up and shut up. When they find out, that is .

i agree. you have to do what makes you happyyy. if i did what my parents like i would have transfered from the college that i absolutely LOVE. do what makes you happy.

exactly. it is your life. you're the one who's going to have to deal with the regrets later on.

Well, as a matter of fact, they did found out. I had written in a notepad the adress of some Drama Schools and my mom saw it and she begun asking me questions, so she found out. And then she told my dad. It was funny, because I told her 'I don't want to do Medicine' and she was like 'Don't give up just now'. And I was like 'I don't feel like doing that' and she was like 'How are you going to survive? It's not like actors have good salaries'. And, well, she had me there because I didn't know what to say.

you'll survive. there are millions of struggling actors out there and they survive, don't they. most of them keep temp jobs to pay the bills like waitressing etc...
I'm going into science research, do you have ANY idea how badly paid that is? I could earn more money stocking shelves in a supermarket - no joke! But its what I wanna do. And IF *if* I make it, just like if you make it, its a comfortable life.
You'll never be successful at something you don't have the drive for. Trust me on that. Especially with medicine. I've seen SO many people flop out and drop out of medicine because they were pushed into it. Its too hard a course to survive mentally and academically if you don't wanna be there. And being an actress is better paid than a failed doctor!

that's true, you can't earn much being an actor, except if you're in Hollywood I guess lol

But as others said, go with your dreams and see where it takes you. You never will have a success in something you don't like/ enjoy

You're right Lish-lish. That's why I realised I don't care what my parents say. If I have to do it behind their backs I'll do it. I'm not giving up just because they want me to. Gosh, you Cullenates know how to help others. Thanks!

and yea i wear A LOT of makeup lol...well i only wear a lot of eye make up lol...but MAC is really awesome =) expensive but awesome!
