From cutthroat journalist to blood-sucking vampire.

British actor Michael Sheen is joining Robert Pattinson & Co. in New Moon, the sequel to the blockbuster film Twilight, a studio rep has confirmed to E! News.

In the new film due out this fall, Sheen, 40, will play Aro, the leader of the deadly Volturi vampire coven that wants to ensure humans never find out bloodsuckers exist.

Sheen is best known for playing David Frost in last year's Oscar-nominated Frost/Nixon and as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in 2006's Oscar-winning film The Queen with Helen Mirren.

New Moon isn't the first movie in which Sheen portrays a monster: He also appeared in 2003's Underworld starring Kate Beckinsale, with whom he has a daughter.

he doesnt look like what i thought aro would look like... but i havent seen anything else that he's in... is he a bad actor?

I think he''ll do the part really good. I've so far been really impressed with Chris Weintz or whatever his last name is. He seems to have chosen good actors so far and I think the guy who plays Aro will do really good. I've never seen his before, but for some reason I have this really big feelings he'll do a spunk-tastic job.

^ I saw Hugo Weaving as Aro too!! I think I posted that on TwiFo way back when the imaginary Aro casting began. But then Gabs convinced me of Ben Barnes. But Michael Sheen is a good actor so I think he'll do a good job.

I liked him in Underworld as the villain. Lucian the Lycan (oh, it rhymes). LOL. I think he will do a good job. I hope so.
