*Subject* Edward's character analysis

Ok so I thought this may be kinda cool. Not sure if it'll work though. I was thinking we should compile a comprehensive list of Edward's characteristics. So each person can post a characteristic, followed by evidence so say a quote or a scene. No repeating the ones that came before. And then we can keep editing the first post to keep a running total of everything we love about Edward!!

I'll start.

He's moral: In Eclipse when he kidnaps Bella and pushes her off him so she can keep her virtue.

He doesn't hold grudges. Even if Jacob tried to win Bella over, he still considered him as a friend.

He cares about Bella more than he cares about himself: at the end of New Moon, when he told Bella that she was the only thing that could be more important than what he wanted or needed.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I really like Edward more after reading Midnight Sun.

He is not a tattle-tale. He didn't give out info just like that. Remember how he told Bella about how Esme fell off a cliff when the truth was that she tried to kill herself? Or about why Rosalie didn't like her?

On to dissecting Edward:

He is strong-willed. He fought with the urge to kill & drink Bella's blood. And if he wanted to kill Jacob, he would have done so. But he didn't, because he knew Bella would be devastated.

He also puts the others' happiness first before his. I think that's enough said.

As Stephenie points out in the interview:

Edward weighs things before acting on them. He is very careful & not impulsive. I guess no passage from the books is needed to explain this.

He tries to remain calm and even tempered, He doesnt lose control easily....But whether Jasper has anything to do with that is another question.

I would say Jasper has something to do with it if he's in close proximity with Edward. But it's rare, I bet. Edward thinks a lot. So, whatever action or decision he has, is credited to him alone.

well, i like the way he keeps protecting Bella, and loving her more than himself...and how he tried to keep her human as long as he can, so he won't take away her life, and preventing her from living human moments, of what he wished he could live.

Granted, Renesmee would not have been born, but it was quite dubious to keep her human after the James incident. How long is the girlfriend of vampire going to last in the vampire world when she has sweeter-than-average blood. Jasper has trouble and he DOESN'T want to eat her. I'm not sure the obsession over keeper her mortal is a quality to be admired.

Yes but Jasper has issues with self control though. He had that to deal with before Bella hit the scene.

I think it's noble if nothing else... Edward just wanteed her to experience everything possible before he turned her as he knew that once turned she would never be able to go there again. So I personally can't see that as a bad thing...

he puts up with all of Bella's drama crap very gracefully

Edward has his own drama crap. He doesn't even confirm Bella's death from before going off half-cocked to Volterra. I'm just saying that keeping Bella human was a very emotional decision, and not very well thought out. I guess its noble in a way, but very dangerous. Bella could be killed at a family baseball game by a foul ball.

haha its true. it was emotional and stupid, but he did have good motives behind it.

I didn't say it was a total quality, bcoz of bella always-accidents...but i meant that he wanted her to have what he couldn't have, that's something really nice to do, whether a human or a vampire

he is thotful and chivelrous ( how ever you spell that ) and he wants wats best for the people he loves no matter what it costs him that is the sweetest part about him
