Ok, here's what I think... Both good and bad I will start with bad lol I think that author of the book is not that original. It's almost like a copy of Twilight. There's everything - Bella who's living with one of the parents, Edward kind of bad but good, their kisses turning Bella's mind off, the mind talking, Victoria, James who used Bella's mom to get Bella down... And I bet Dabria will return as Victoria did. I also wonder if Elliot will turn into bear or something just like Jake did lol So as it's so similar to Twilight, it really bugged me to read it cause I always thought "Oh, this is from Twilight" and I started to laugh and want it or not but ppl compare it then and I really love Twilight lol You know, it's like not being able to be in Hush Hush totally as Twilight always came on, so it disturbed me while reading. If I wouldn't know Twilight, it wouldn't be like that and I could get more into book and enjoy it more than I did it.

Did Patch explained why he fell in love in Nora? Cause I really would like to know what made him to change his mind. I don't remember he telling that. I remember when he said what it happened and how.

One more thing I didn't like was if some things didn't make any sense. s if author wrote it just cause she couldn't find another excuse or something.

Now good... lol Despite what I wrote above I really enjoyed the book. It had some tense and as Ally said, I just couldn't stop reading. So I read 8 hours till 9am yesterday LOL And I really LOVE the books like that, that keeps me read and read. That was a good suggestion, Ally

I also loved the end. Just like Mary I said Awwwwww when Patch refused

Do you know when Hush Hush came out? And when will be the sequel?

when I read scripts in theatre I always think why somebody does something to understand characters, like analyzing them. I started to do it when I started to play theatre. So I am doing that while reading books as well. I need to understand the causes why somebody does or say something or expect it to understand in the end of the book. That's the reason why I wonder why Patch fell in love in Nora, why he changed his mind.

When I watch movies it;s also similar but not that much. It's mostly when I read lol

I'm glad you liked it Laz. There are a LOT of similarities to Twilight in general theme and formula. I noticed that too - it almost made me put the book down ad stop reading it cos I thought it was just a hash of Twilight. But then it started to have a different feel. Maybe cos the characters are different, or because of the whole always-wanting-to-find-out-more thing.
As for Dabria: she's not coming back in Crescendo. Becca said she will return in the third book if the series ends up going that far.
Hush Hush came out in October just gone, so its fairly recent, and Crescendo is coming out Fall/Autumn 2010 but no precise date.
As for Patch and his feelings, I think Crescendo is going to explore that more. I hope so, anyways.

haha i probably would have ignored the similarities, but the fact that it took place in a biology class and they were partners threw me. haha the rest i could have been like... haha that's kind of like twilight. but the bio thing was like... damn. it's the same freaking story with a different monster.

Yeah the bio class bit was weird. To be fair though, Hush Hush was based on real-life experiences. Becca was explaining that a lot of the scenes that happen in biology, like the whole 'what characteristics in a mate' thing actually happened to her when she was in school and she thought it'd make for a good scene. And plus she has been writing Hush Hush for like 5 years (she had to stop in the middle when she had her kids) so she didn't even know about Twilight until much later.

lmao still! regardless, her editor or freaking publisher should have said something. because it is REALLY REALLY too similar. and if they had changed the class to idk... health maybe. we took health when we were sophomores here... then it would have seemed a lot less similar. and they still could have kept those conversations in there.

True. Her editors and publishers were probably trying to cash in on Twilight. Well not probably. I got given the book for free at the New Moon event in London. So yeah they were playing up the similarities for sure! But with whats meant to come in Crescendo, I'm hoping it will be a lot different to New Moon.

that makes sense though. since it's so similar. if you like twilight you probably will like hush hush.

Exactly. Which gives them a huge market, money-wise. I can't really blame them for playing it up. Like I said, I just hope Crescendo is different enough to quell all the comparisons that are flying about everywhere.

i'd be pissed if i was becca or whatever her name is though. i'd want my fans to like my book because it's MY book, not because it's similar to twilight.

Yeah so would I. But then there are a LOT of Twi fans like me that love Hush Hush on its own. And there are a fraction who prefer it, even. So I guess she's focusing on them. And for a tiny unheard of author to get into the NYTimes Bestseller list is pretty huge, so I suppose she's focusing on the good side. Probably trying NOT to think of the Twi influence.

It made me to stop as well cause it really bugged me it's so similar. It never became too different for me. All through the book I sensed that Twilight flavor, right till the end.

I can't believe I've read such a new book haha I always read books when they are old. Like I've started to read Harry Potter when the 7th book came out. I've read Twilight a year ago lol Now I've read the book that's only 2 months old and I love this fact haha

Twilight came out in 2005 as I found from google so it is like 5 years ago. I am not saying she stole the idea or something but she should know it would look like that and she could change some things.

She could have changed things, true. I dunno why, maybe she didn't wanna change her original concept?? She definitely woulda noticed the similarity before Hush Hush came out, cos Twi blew up everywhere in '08.

LOL Steph has no reason to be pissed off. Becca's made nowhere NEAR the amount of money she did with Twilight, and the ideas, though incredibly similar, are dissimilar enough, imo anyway.

And yeah it is kinda cool to read a book that soon to it coming out. I've never read a book that quickly after publication, either.

haha i don't think stephenie should be... pissed. MAYBE annoyed...? haha. but yeah, her publishers should have had her change a few details. but it was still a good book regardless.
